Terrorism and the Politics of Fear with David Altheide
Sociologist Dr. David Altheide joins the program to discuss how the mass media uses the politics of fear to further the agenda of their constituents.
Altheide is the inspiration for the character “Professor Hoffman” in the Michael Chrichton novel, State of Fear. In it, Professor Hoffman illustrates the media’s “discourse of fear” using Altheide’s ethnographic content analysis method.
