Creating Identity Constructs
Question of the Hour:
How does an African-American Adoptee create an identity construct that transcends the pain of historical and experiential relinquishment?
In this episode we continue the previous discussion of identity. This time Gail, Mavis, and I welcome our first guest, Mr. Michael Williams, hailing from North Carolina. We are super charged with excitement to have Michael on the show!
Michael Williams is a celebrated storyteller, genetic genealogy trainer, exhibitionist, historic preservation advocate, and memory keeper of the 18th-19th Century African-American experience. As an international speaker, Michael gives presentations at universities, historical societies, high schools, churches, and libraries. Michael is known for his B.U.I.LD. Principle workshop series teaching African-American communities how to leverage their personal and community genealogical research to trace back to the Pre-Civil War Era.
Join the conversation as Michale chronicles his journey from foster care and adoption to birth family reunification and his roots in Africa.
