Sheila Van de Graaph

Sheila Van de Graaph is the Executive Director of YouthRoots, a Colorado-based statewide nonprofit dedicated to unleashing the power of youth to change the world. With more than 20 years of leadership in youth development, philanthropy, and community impact, Sheila has worked across twelve countries designing inclusive, community-driven programs that amplify youth voice and support solutions from the inside out.

Originally from Kenya, Sheila brings a powerful global perspective to her work and a deep, unwavering belief that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they are leaders today. Through transformative initiatives like YouthScan, youth grantmaking, and leadership development programs, she creates pathways for young people to lead, influence decisions, and actively shape the future of their communities.

Grounded in advanced studies in International Development, Gender Studies, and Anthropology, Sheila’s work centers on equity, trust, and shared power—ensuring that young people are not only heard, but valued as essential partners in building stronger, more just communities.
