Margaret Mary Moore

Margaret Mary Moore, MSW, MA, STL has over 40 years in ministry, as a social worker, theologian and advocate for children and laity in the US and abroad. She worked for the USCCB in the Department of International Affairs, New York City’s Department of Human Services and the NYC Board of Education. She then moved to Belgium where she studied theology at the Catholic University of Louvain for 6 years. During this time, she worked for the Chaplain Corps of the U.S. military and the Military Council of Catholic Women in Europe. 

She then moved to Rome to study theology at the Gregorian University and remained in Rome for 14 years. She became a national secretary for the Italian Catholic Charismatic Renewal, helped develop the Italian Association of Christian Therapists, and worked to promote laity in the Church. She was a founding member of the National Association for Lay Ministry. She founded the Theology & Life Institute, and visits Rome to attend International Women's Conferences.  In 2019 and 2020, she was in Rome in solidarity with the Papal Synod on The Sexual Abuse of Minors. In October 2025, she attended the Jubilee in Rome for Promoters of Synodality in the Catholic Church as a Board member of the Pentecost Vigil Project.   

Now in St. Louis, Margaret Mary is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. Peter Claver; InterFaith Partnership of St. Louis; Catholic Theological Society of America; Catholic Relief Services;  St. Louis University Women's Council; the Tekakwitha Conference; and the Catholic Native American Boarding School Accountability and Healing Project. She is a seeker of truth, justice and peace.
