Spirituality and Money: Good or Bad Union?

It's a common belief that money and spirituality don't go together: If you're spiritual, you shouldn't want money. People who want money are greedy and materialistic. Money is the root of all evil.

How true are those statements? Is it possible to be spiritual and be wealthy? Can money and spirituality be mixed?
